Are taxes going to increase in retirement?

This is a fascinating question because it depends upon your unique situation. Many of our clients have found that their tax rates come down in retirement because their income is lower, or the way that their income is taxed is different. This presents some excellent financial planning opportunities that we can take advantage of. However, we are also aware that many people enjoy retirement for twenty or thirty years. This is a very long time, and we need to understand that potential tax increases during that time frame are likely. This also offers some unique financial planning opportunities that we work with our clients to solve. The good news is that good planning will win the day no matter if our tax rates are going up or down.

Are you a fiduciary?

Yes! A fiduciary is an individual who acts in the best interest of a particular person or beneficiary. Fiduciary financial advisors must only buy and sell investments that are the best fit for their clients. Fiduciaries have a bond of trust with clients and must avoid conflicts of interest.

If you're going skydiving, it helps to know that your instructor has your best interest at heart. You trust that they'll ensure your parachute opens on time and that you land safely on the ground.

Working with a financial advisor may not be life or death, but they do hold the ripcord to your financial future. There's an ethical parachute some financial advisors abide by that helps ensure you stay safely on course: the fiduciary duty.
